UTM Link Builder

Add UTM tags to any link so Google Analytics (and every other analytics tool) reports where the click came from — which ad, post, email or QR code. Presets for the common channels; values are tidied so your reports stay clean. Runs in your browser.

A free UTM link builder: paste a page URL, pick or type the source, medium and campaign (plus term and content), and copy the tagged link — so Google Analytics reports which ad, post, email or QR code sent the visit. Names are lower-cased and cleaned so reports stay tidy. Runs in your browser.

Without tags on your links, every enquiry looks the same — and you cannot tell which post, ad or email brought it.

Build a tagged link in seconds; your analytics does the rest.

Quick fill:
Your tagged link
Fill the URL, source, medium and campaign.

Runs in your browser — nothing is uploaded. Your last eight links are kept in this browser only and never sent anywhere.

After the tagging

Every campaign link, showing where the visit came from

Your links todayYour links, tagged

Left: links shared in posts, ads and emails with no tags, so the visits arrive as 'direct' or 'social' and every enquiry looks the same. Right: every link you place outside the site tagged with source, medium and campaign, in the same lower-case names each time, so the Acquisition report shows which post, ad or email brought the visit.

  • A tag on every link you place outside the site
  • One naming pattern, so each channel reports under one name
  • The Acquisition report showing which post, ad or email worked

How it works

How to use the UTM Link Builder

  1. 01Paste the page you want people to land on.
  2. 02Pick a preset or type the source (where), medium (channel) and campaign (what you are promoting).
  3. 03Copy the tagged link and use it in the ad, post or email — not on your own site's menus.

Good to know

Keep the names consistent

Analytics treats Facebook, facebook and FB as three sources. The builder lower-cases everything and replaces spaces with underscores; decide your names once (facebook / social / spring_sale) and reuse them, and the campaign report stays readable months later.

About the utm link builder

Knowing which marketing actually works

Without tags, a click from your Instagram bio, your newsletter and a Facebook ad all arrive as 'direct' or 'social', and you cannot tell which one produced the enquiry. With tags, the Acquisition report answers it in one table — which is the whole point of spending on any of them.

This builder writes the link correctly every time, offers presets for the common channels, and keeps your last eight links in this browser only — never sent anywhere — so a campaign's links stay consistent.

FAQ

UTM Link Builder — questions

What are UTM parameters?

Five tags added to a link — utm_source, utm_medium and utm_campaign, which this builder requires, plus the optional utm_term and utm_content — that analytics tools read to attribute the visit. They do nothing to the page itself.

Which ones are required?

Three: source (where: google, facebook, newsletter), medium (the channel: cpc, social, email) and campaign (what: spring_sale). Term and content are optional, for paid keywords and A/B variants.

Should I put UTM links on my own site?

No. Tagging internal links overwrites the real source with a fake one. Use them only on links you place elsewhere: ads, social posts, emails, print QR codes.

Why is everything lower-cased?

Analytics is case-sensitive — Facebook and facebook become two sources. The builder normalises the values so the same channel always reports under one name.
