Web developer in Kalimpong — plant listings for orchid and cactus nurseries
For an orchid or cactus nursery that sends plants across India, the first thing I'd build as a web developer in Kalimpong is the plant listing. Its buyers order a plant they've never held. So the listing has to answer everything they'd ask if they could pick the pot up and look.
Overview
The order a plant listing follows
The species and its proper name go first. Then the size and the age. Then how it's packed and sent. Last comes what survives the journey, from your own experience.
Which plants travel well is knowledge your nursery holds, and I don't have it. It's your packing experience that fills that last line. When a plant stops travelling well, you edit its listing yourself or drop me a note.

What a scope from me looks like
Agreed in writing before the first listing
Included
- A written scope: every page and feature as its own line, agreed before work starts
- Design to build, reviewed on a staging URL that stays open the whole project
- Mobile first — checked on a real phone
- Domain, hosting and every account created in your name from day one
- A page for each species, which the nursery can edit itself
- Basic on-page SEO: titles, descriptions, headings, sitemap, Search Console connected
- A runbook at handover: how to edit it, what renews and when
Phase two
- A plant catalogue with ordering and dispatch
- A homestay's room bookings, taken on the site
- Ongoing SEO once the site has traffic to read
- A maintenance plan once the site is live
- Logo and brand design, quoted separately from the build
Not doing
- Guaranteed rankings
- Bought links
- A launch before your sign-off
What gets built here
One trade per site
I scope a nursery, a school and a homestay as three separate jobs, because each buyer arrives with different questions.
- Nurseries — a nursery website organised by species, with a page for each plant.
- Orchids and cacti — each named by its species and by the common name a buyer might search for.
- Homestays — a page for every room, written for a guest arriving for the first time.
- Packing and dispatch — how a plant leaves the nursery, written once and linked from every listing.

Where this comes from
Where my record is kept
Clients have left 890+ five-star reviews across Fiverr, Upwork and direct clients. Read them on the testimonials page before we speak. The builds themselves are on the project page.
Support is the whole team, not one person — reach us any time, and someone picks it up.
What moves the number
Where a nursery's quote moves
The species count comes first on a nursery's quote, and orders on the site come second.
- How many species go up in the first round — the rest can follow later
- Orders taken on the site, or an enquiry that reaches a person
- Pictures of each plant — taken by you, or still to arrange
- Packing notes — written once for the whole nursery, or per species
- A courier's tracking link, if your buyers expect one

FAQ
Settle these before the scope
Ask the rest when we speak.
Which species should a nursery list first?
- The first species to list are the ones your nursery packs and sends with the most confidence. Each listing needs your own figures and photographs, so the first round can be small. The others follow once those are live.
What does a homestay site need?
- A homestay site needs each room on its own page, with photographs taken in the room as it's let. A guest who's never been relies on those pictures. The way to the door is written from your description. Taking room bookings on the site can be added afterwards.
Can we update a listing when a plant sells out?
- A listing can be updated by the nursery itself when a plant sells out or a new one comes in. Each species page is built to be edited that way, so a change doesn't wait for me.
Which stack would a nursery site be built on?
- A nursery site that lists plants and takes enquiries is built on WordPress, so you can edit each species page yourself. Once ordering and dispatch come in, WooCommerce is added to the same site, so there's no starting again.
Who takes the plant photographs?
- Plant photographs can come from you, or be arranged as a line in the scope. Each one shows the plant at the size a buyer receives it, so the photograph and the stated size agree.
Could we build one part now and the rest later?
- Building one part now and the rest later is a sensible way to phase a nursery site. The species listings come first. Ordering with dispatch is added after that, costed when you want it.
Next step
Begin with the plants you sell
Send the plant names you'd want listed, with whatever notes you keep on them. After we've talked, I'll write the first scope from those. Rough notes are fine.
