Web developer in Digha for seaside hotels and guesthouses

The hotel websites I make as a web developer in Digha open quickly on a weak signal and put each room, with today's rate, at the top. A guest deciding on the road, on the day they arrive, sees the room, checks the price and presses one button to call or message you. Everything else on the site waits until those three things have loaded.

Overview

When the guest opens the door

A guest finds out at the door whether the photos were true. Reviews do much of the selling for a Digha hotel, and that moment is what the review is written about.

The room is the thing they have paid for. Everything on the room page is there to show it plainly, from the first photograph to the rate beside it.

Each room page leads with one wide photograph of the whole room, bed to window, with nothing in it that won't be there on arrival.

Each room type gets a page built the same way, so a guest can open the exact room they are about to book. Rooms that look alike can share one page, if you would rather keep it short.

What moves the number

What decides the cost of a hotel's site?

Five choices decide how big a hotel's build gets. Each becomes a line in your written scope, with its own cost beside it.

Room typesa page for each, or one shared page for rooms that are alike
Availabilitya live calendar, or a quick enquiry button for now
Photographsthe set you have, or new ones taken room by room
Rate changeswho makes them, and how often they move
Directions and the menuon the site at launch, or added later

What changes the size of the job.

What gets built here

Light enough for a weak signal

A slow page loses the guest before a single room has appeared. Four parts get the most care.

  1. 01The first room photo loads ahead of everything else, compressed and sized for a phone screen.
  2. 02Today's rate written as text, so it shows while the pictures are still coming in.
  3. 03A call or WhatsApp button that stays on screen, so a guest who has decided can book there and then.
  4. 04Rates kept correct, with the runbook showing whoever changes them exactly where to do it.

Where this comes from

How long I have been at this

I've been building for the web for 9+ years, since 2017. The about page tells how it started, and who works with me now.

What a scope from me looks like

What's in, what waits, what's left out

An example first scope — a seaside hotel or guesthouse
v1
FIXED PRICE · PER PHASE

Included

  • A written scope: every page and feature as its own line, agreed before work starts
  • Design to build, reviewed on a staging URL that stays open the whole project
  • Mobile first — checked on a real phone
  • Domain, hosting and every account created in your name from day one
  • A page for each room type, with its photographs placed first
  • Basic on-page SEO: titles, descriptions, headings, sitemap, Search Console connected
  • A runbook at handover: how to edit it, what renews and when

Phase two

  • Live availability, if enquiries start arriving faster than you can answer them
  • Pages for directions and the menu, once rooms are booking well
  • Ongoing SEO once the site has traffic to read
  • A maintenance plan once the site is live
  • Logo and brand design, quoted separately from the build
Costed later, once booking numbers show the need.

Not doing

  • Guaranteed rankings
  • Answering guest calls on your behalf — that stays yours to handle
Whether a room is free tonight is your call. I build the page that says so, and the runbook shows you how to change it.

FAQ

Room, rate and photo questions

A guesthouse and a large hotel get the same answers, at different sizes.

Can we use the photos we already have?

Yes, if each one shows a room as it is now. Any that don't are replaced from a shot list I send, which you or a photographer you hire can work through room by room.

Do we need to show live availability?

Not at launch. A clear enquiry button does the job for a smaller hotel to begin with. A live calendar can be added later, once answering each enquiry by hand starts to take too long.

What should a beach hotel website show first?

The room and today's rate, above anything else. Directions, the menu and the rest can sit lower down, because a guest deciding whether to book wants the room before anything about the town.

Can the booking button open WhatsApp?

Yes. The button can open a WhatsApp chat with the room type already typed in, so a guest only has to add the date and press send.

What happens after it launches?

You get a runbook at handover that shows how to change rates and swap photos yourself, so those edits stay in your hands. If you would rather hand them over, a maintenance plan covers that.

Next step

The rooms you have, and how they're booked

Send a list of your room types and how guests book you now. With that in hand, the first call can go straight to rates and photographs. If guests mostly message you on WhatsApp, say so, and the button starts there.
